About

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by my Montana kitchen. About 3

The food philosophy behind Jeannine’s Cuisine was summed up perfectly by Julia Child: “You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces — just good food from fresh ingredients.” I believe food tastes best and is better for you when it’s made from scratch with the best ingredients you can find, and for the most part, that’s what you’ll find here.

At various times in my life I’ve been a ballet dancer, bartender, soldier, government employee, line cook, pastry chef, business owner, and now blogger.

My parents’ cooking gave me a curiosity about food and a love of different cuisines from around the world at a very young age. A 23-year military career gave me the opportunity to live and travel around the world and exposed me to the food of many different cultures.

I spent most of my childhood and adult life dreaming of becoming a chef. After retiring from the Army, I was finally able to turn my dream of becoming a chef a reality. I attended L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and then worked at a fine-dining restaurant; first as a line cook and later as the Pastry Chef. Additionally, I started a personal chef business, the original Jeannine’s Cuisine.

I’m no longer cooking professionally, but once the “food bug” has bitten, there is no going back. This blog is my way of keeping one foot in the culinary world.

My husband and I recently packed up the dogs, cats, and hundreds of cookbooks and moved to Helena, Montana, which is where I am now cooking up a storm and perfecting my food photography and food styling skills.  Welcome to Jeannine’s Cuisine.
